If you where buying strobes what would you choose?
My main doubt is between two kits, one with 2 softboxes 60x90cm, and the other is with two octaboxes with 90cm.
I'm leading towards the octaboxes, but to be honest I don't have any experience with octaboxes, so I don't know the practical difference between them
If someone care to explain and give your opinion I would be much appreciated.
By the way, anybody knows Walimex Pro strobs?

i have a (AlienBee) octabox & recently purchased two softboxes (~25x90cm & 80x160cm)
to do it over again i would get all softboxes
it is easier to control the light / feather edges withthe boxes
where the octabox just spreads .. (though it gives a nice eye highlight ...)
never heard of Walimex Pro .. |

I have no particularly experience, but the softboxes looks easier to handle if you're on your own. I'm getting two of those after my next paycheck.
This video might help. I found it interesting, but it must be said that I have just as much modelphotography experience as a dead snail, so it might suck. There's all in all 4 videos where he talks about positioning sunbouncers. Guess you can use some of that for softboxes. |
