That was a good game. Prob going to be some arguments around the water cooler tomorrow about a couple of calls in the game but that happens most every week in the NFL. Some pretty funny commercials this year, also thought the 3D commercials were pretty cool. |

I wasnt rooting for either team..........check earlier in the thread. I just feel the officials made some really poor calls.

I'm in a neutral place, but on the interception return there was a pretty clear illegal block in the back, which impeded the effort of one of the two remaining tacklers. Since, if the returner had been tackled even 12 inches earlier it would have been no score, and no opportunity to do so, that's a pretty significant non-call.
Later, the same player should have been ejected for repeatedly punching and shoving an opponent who was on the ground, and wouldn't have been around to harass Warner at the end. And, though I never saw a replay, it looked to me like that same player made the "tackle" on the next-to-last play with a double-forearm shiver to the head of the receiver -- that would have put the Cardinals at about the 9 yard line for the final play(s) instead of back where they were.
Oh yeah, and the wimpy roughing the QB call, though I'm not sure that made all that much difference.
It was exciting in the extreme, but I have a hard time calling any game with over 17 accepted penalties a "great" game.

The first Doritos commercial, with the "crystal ball," was my favorite one by far. |

That makes the second Superbowl win for the Steelers where they were outplayed but helped by some poor calls or non-calls. Now we have to endure another year of gloating even though they again won by the help of poor (or corrupt) officials.
Geez. |

I don't know if I'd go as far as saying "corrupt" officials; the Cardinals did get some calls late in the game which, though good calls, did not help teh Steelers any (e.g. holding in the end zone for a safety). I would say the officials did a poor job though. |

Yeah, I agree. I'm just still sour over the loss that Seattle took to 'bad" calls. Some of those were downright criminal. Tonight they just seemed "bad". |

And we get another year of "the Steelers only won because of the horrible refs." There were a ton of calls against both teams, and I thought most were deserved. It seemed like both teams were trying to give the game away at certain points.
The Steelers were outplayed for a stretch in the second half. Beyond that, they were the better team. The bottom line is that when it had to be done, the Steelers marched down the field at the end and made the plays to win the game.
It was an exciting game that could have gone either way. Both teams played fun football that was enjoyable to watch. |

I too thought that it was a wimpy call.
How about the great acting by Warner for those '2' Fumbles in which he was able to convince that he was passing...well, ok gave him one took away one.
The Cardinals made their mistake by holding back their 'weapon' too long. It appeared they thought that they would utlize Fitzgerald in the second half and roll over the Steelers. However perhaps if they hadn't outsmarted themselves they would have had an additional score.
Hmmm...sounds like poor coaching.

But those poor calls and blind refs is what bothers people. They can cause game changing scores which result in wins. Even the announcers have seen it time and time again. They need to hire some refs who are not over the age of 60 and can still see!
They did play a good game though. It's not the Steelers I don't like it's their big ego jerk fans who treat others like dirt. Even when they know plays were not called right they still go on and on like they were and how they're the greatest. You can even have the NFL saying it wasn't called correctly and the fans still rant and rave about how it was right.
In one of the playoff games one player got penalized for roughing their punter. The steelers punter wasn't even touched in the replay. But that call got them a first down instead of them having to punt the ball. It's rediculous.

The guys at FootballOutsiders tracked the game using their DVOA stat, which measures the value of each play and adjusts for the skill of the opponent, and their conclusion was that the Cardinals outplayed the Steelers. I agree that it was exciting to watch though, even with the poor officiating. |

Pish, if you want big ego, jerk fans go to Oakland.
I've been to one Raiders game. They played the Broncos and I went with a friend who is a Broncos fan. The entire time we were harassed about his Broncos hat and jersey, physically threatened several times and one guy started shoving him as we were walking to the men's room, telling him, "Take off that F'ing hat or I'll take your F'ing head off!". Security intervened. |

Oh I know! Thats why I would never go to pittsburgh to watch the ravens play. My friends who did got called every name you can think of, spit on, food thrown at them, people tried to fight them, and they were women! They even did a news article about some other women who were bashed when they went there. It's so rediculous. I know guys talk trash and alcohol plays a role, but these were women in their 30's just having a good time. They weren't doing anything but watching the game in their ravens gear. They were scared.
