Yes, yet-another-pricing-thread. Sorry. ;)
Couldn't find any recent discussions about this, so thought I'd throw a feeler out... I've had a number of clients recently ask for "web-only" sized images (300, 600, 800 pixel-on-longest-edge).
In the past, for most of my clients who've asked (usually actors and staff of theatre shows), I've provided these low-resolution images free of charge, and relied on the "real income" I get from them to come from prints and primarily my original shoot fee. I feel that builds great rapport with the actors and staff, and has really helped with networking and picking up more assignments.
Recently, I've had a couple of (non-theatre) clients request web-sized-images, and they've indicated right up front that they "expect" to pay for them (whoo-hoo for me!)... but now I need to decide how much to charge (always the predicament....). So, what's a reasonable ballpark?
When selling full-sized digital images, per image, I've usually priced the full-size image at near the same as an 8x10 print (then padding or rounding up a bit). I'm not sure what to base my pricing for smaller digital-only sales.
Any thoughts?
