Hello,
I'm rather new around here, so I apologize if this is a bit much to ask, but I was wondering if someone might give me some tips on how to do some simple processing on this image. I really like how it turned out, but I'd love to get the grass stalks on the left that I somehow did not notice at the time, out of there. And the building if I could... but I'm thinking that would be a PROJECT.
I use Gimp, and am getting much better at it... I've done a number of manual stitches, and am getting decent with the clone/heal feature, but it's just very difficult to clone out those objects and keep that really nice gradient that is present on the right hand side.
Any tips would be much appreciated... thanks!
Erik

The stalks won't be too tough, but the building will be more difficult, mostly because the sky behind it has that fine gradient you mentioned. I always find that sort of thing tough to clone out. Perhaps you could instead cover up the building by cloning some of that out of focus background grass in front of it.

My method for the grass so far is to try and clone "lines" that lead into the center...hoping to keep the gradient smooth. Even with a soft brush this is proving difficult- is there a method I can apply after having done the cloning to try and smooth the gradient back out?? I've used "smudge" before after cloning in other images, but I don't think this would work well here....
thanks!

For the building you might just clone out the windows so that the entire thing is an even brown, so that it will look less like a building and thus be less distracting. |
