I'm looking for informative, interesting, or inspirational articles, essays or info about photography or specific photographers.
I'd like new stuff to share with my students.
anybody that has links to stuff and could reply, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks! |

Try looking at Rangefinder magazine...it's a free subscription and has a lot of useful information. They also profile different photographers each issue. |

Definitely--I do get a subscription to that magazine as well as Popular Photo, Outdoor Photo, and PCPhoto--one of my montly assignments is to review articles.
I guess what I was looking for in my Original Post was more along the line of things written by or about historic photographers or things of that nature. Current too, though.
I liked a recent rangefinder that was about "young guns" and profiled a 16 year old. |

Here is an interesting discussion with three wire service photo editors, about the photographic legacy of G.W. Bush's presidency, published in yesterday's NY Times. |

Adding to the Sontag recommendation, Basic Critical Theory for Photographers, by Ashley la Grange. Good summary of texts by Berger, Sontag, Szarkowski, Barthes, and so on. Recommend picking up the original texts though if you want to study them in further detail.

Interesting article on Walker Evans and the Picture Postcard -- his collection and its influence on his photography. There's an exhibition in New York. |

This is absolutely an EXCELLENT read. I strongly urge everyone to read this longish piece and study the images as they relate to what the editors are discussing. *This* is photojournalism, in an intimate glimpse we rarely are allowed.
