Hi, I am curious as to what programs people use to save for web/DPChallenge upload.

Often i have a full size image that i like, but when i save it for web/small enough for DPChallenge challenges. It strips out a heap of the quality and detail.

I did some experiements with Micsoft Office and Picture managed and Googles Picasa and found that Googles Picasa was better.

What programs to people use to do the final squash of the image into the 720 pixels for challenges.

on a seperate note... why hasn't DPChallenge bumped up the max file resolution. It appears rather crazy to have such low res photos for a photography site. Am i missing something?

hi...

my usually workflow is:

open the shot with Capture NX2, i'm a nikon owner, here i make some corrections on my raw file and i save it in jpg format or tiff format at the max resolution.

after i open the jpg file with Photoshop CS3 and i reduce it at dimensons that i need and then i save it with "save for web" feature with the limits that i want (150 or 200kb for example). Usually the file is good for posting on web, without excessive loss of quality.

you can try to use Gimp if you don't want to spend much money for PS, Gimp is for free...
