When I finish editing my photo in photoshop and upload it to the web the saturation of colors seem to change. The vibrancy of the colors seems to vanish in certain browsers. To make matters worse the picture looks different depending on which browser you use.
For instance the following picture looks great in Photoshop, good in Safari and very dull in Firefox. Is there a trick to get consistency in how the picture looks regardless of the browser?
Thanks!

1) Calibrate your monitor and 2) Setup monitor RGB as your Proof Setup |

Not sure what your settings are, but on my system running Firefox, the colors look bright and nicely saturated. Not dull at all.
I believe SRGB is the color space that should be used.
I've noticed a lot of people having these issues with color space problems recently. Has Adobe perhaps changed some default behavior? I use PaintShop pro and my photos always look identical on the computer screen and online. |

Thanks for the quick response. A quick follow up question . . . does the photo I have posted show up vibrant or dull on your monitors? |

I had the same problem, I was editing and saving as adobeRGB, and wondering why my photos looked different. Then I worked out I should save images for web as sRGB, its a tick box in the SaveAs dialog in photoshop. Alternatively uses the save for Web option from the File menu (this gives you better control over the jpeg compression too)

Vibrant on mine. The age old question is "Does your green look like my green????" lol |

Looks pretty good on mine. I mean... it could be MORE vibrant... but I think it's pretty vibrant... |

Before posting your image online, go to edit-->convert to profile, then choose sRGB (you've probably been editing in Adobe RGB, which is better for prints). That should make sure it looks the same online as photoshop. |

Thanks for all the information. On top of all that I learned I also downloaded Firefox 3.1 and the new version gives a better rendition of the pictures.
Again thanks for all the advice. |
