I think you made exactly the right decision. You already were decided on Canon glass, so any lenses you buy you can bring forward on a body upgrade. If the 10D mk II (or whatever they call it) ccomes out in September, you can always sell the 300D and buy that, and in the meantime you have use of and are gaining experience with a DSLR, which BTW will also give you more knowledge to know if the 10D MK II is a worthwhile upgrade for you or not.

Any announcement of those will most likely occur at this year's Photokina in September. (People are also expecting a 1Ds Mark II)

Not sure if they'll replace the 10D -- a more sensible thing to do would be to have a EOS 3D, same metering and autofocus performance, etc. as the 1D, but less fps, for about $2500. That will get me excited.

It is certain that there will be a Canon camera, in that space, to replace the 10D, at some point (unless the company goes out of business)

However, they haven't announced anything yet. If they do, it won't actually be available for about 6 months after that date, if not longer,

So basically, your question is a 300D now, or a camera that might be available in January at the earliest ?
