Actually, it's only one a week if you don't have anything published. If you get something published then you have more upload slots. So, now that shutterpug has had 3 rejected, she will only get 1 upload slot a week.

Thanks for the info. I doubt I will ever get one published as I am sending them some of my best stuff but they just reject them. :( |

Thanks for the mention, Lisa and Tevor! Here's the link to my newly published shot. I was kind of bummed though that I never had a chance to see it on the front page since our internet service went down on Saturday. By the time I snuck away to check in at a coffee shop on Monday morning, twelve hours had passed since it appeared. Oh well...hopefully this won't be the last time that I get a chance. This was my 6th attempt, with five previous rejections. I was pretty much on the verge of giving up. Man, it's a tough crowd there, and it sure can get discouraging. Here are my five that didn't get through:

Rejected after several days in screening:
On the other hand, just got my fastest approval ever. This one took a couple of hours to get published. It was so fast that when I got their email I instantly thought: "oh! carp! another rejection!"

This is quickly becoming the 1x accepted club! Congrats
I still haven't gotten one through... but seeing as how I didn't get a membership and tried re-submitting two of my photos... the submission process is going slow (and I guess technically, I've only had 4 photos rejected) |

I've paid for my Bronze membership 3 days ago but haven't seen anything come through yet, is anyone else anything more than a standard member? And how quick did your upgrade come through? |

It was instant as I recall. Only thing that took some time was the homepage thing. Send email to the crew. |

Don't forget they are European based and so the admins are probably only just waking up now. The owners are in Sweden where it is currently just around 7.00 am. :) |

Hmmm...A photo of mine got rejected and the following was written..
We like the photo very much Iraklis but the crew and a number of the members have noticed some disturbing halo's around the figure and a few other area's that look like over sharpening. Please could you re-upload with these points addressed. crew
wondering if I should re-submit now and have it screened again, or wait? If people just screened it, they may find it tiring to look at yet again... |

Definitely reupload ASAP. If they ask for a reedit and you can adress the issues, your chances are very high of getting published |

I hope I'm not saying something stupid, but I do believe that if you correct the problem, the crew can publish the photo without hearing from the members again. |

Over-sharpening is a common problem, and it often shows as light halos around dark outlines (figures, horizon lines, sharp lines). One thing I noticed while screening at 1X is that people from DPC took DPC-sized images (640 to 720px on the largest side) and up-sized to 1X dimensions (950px on largest side, 850px if in portrait), and while the over-sharpening issues do not show as much in the smaller sizes, they jump out at you at the larger sizes.
Do you have the actual picture you entered to 1X posted here? If the crew asked you to re-upload with issues corrected, they are serious about liking the picture. Crew rarely asks for re-uploads, as a matter of fact most of the time even when we wished people would re-upload we would not specifically mention it, because asking for a re-upload creates a sense of "this will be published!", and that's not necessarily true (since re-uploads aren't necessarily improvements). In other words, if they asked you to re-upload, they're serious about it, and they can publish without it going through member evaluation again.
I don't know how you're creating your 1X version of this picture. In my view it is best to always start from the larger edited image (no final sharpening) that's your base printing image, then size to the site's requirements (all these sites have different size allowances), then do a final sharpen that is appropriate for that final size. If you get halos, usually you've sharpened too much. There are times though when that's exactly the sharpening you want, so then you're left with getting rid of the halos. One way you can do that (it's a bit tricky) is to use the clone tool to a very small feathered radius (10 px or so), set to darken, pick the area right next to the halo and brush over the halo to darken it. It works quite well, but it takes time, and it also helps to do it in a 200% view.
I hope this helps.

OK, now standing at 4 rejected and 3 published. Pretty damn stoked with that hit rate considering the quality of work on there. What it is making me do is go back through all my old work and re-assess, to be honest I feel really quite motivated again, I felt i was getting into a bit of rut here, hopefully this'll help, and help my flagging DPC average........... :)
