Hi everyone. I'm passing along a request for a friend of mine. I'll share with her any recommendations you may have.
Edited to add: they're in Akron. Cleveland might work, too, since they get up there every once in a while.
Thanks!

I've tried looking a bit online but not sure what companies are good and which are bad? I've have heard some horror stories about some companies that destroy your original films in the process of transferring it to digital format. (Not something I want to have happen). The film & slides are at my parent's home in Ohio so if there's a local vendor nearby that would be great. Otherwise we could a ship them. I have a Mac so the plan would be to get some of the old super 8 film in digital format so that I could then refine further into movie format, using iDVD on the Apple. Also would be be great to find a place that might offer a price break on doing a few reels at a time.
Appreciate any info you can provide. Thanks. |

I have no experience or direct information about that in Northeast Ohio. However, Dodd Camera is probably the most reputable and high-end camera store in the area. If you go to their web site (www.doddcamera.com) they list "Video Transfer" under "Store Services" and it appears they offer what you need. If you want to speak with them directly, call their headquarters store in downtown Cleveland rather than one of their suburban branches (261-361-6800 or 800-507-1676) (closed evenings and Sundays). But keep in mind I have no direct information about the quality of their video transfer services.
You might also PM metatate and see if he has any thoughts. |
