My wife participates in a monthly themed art contest -- sort-of like dpchallenge, but with physical art instead of photography (I say physical art, but some of the artists actually submit digital creations, too, but most of the artists are using physical media).
In this contest, they give you an actual image and a word; you have to use the image in your piece, and optionally use the word; and/or base your creation on the concept of the word. It's all very artsy... ;) and like dpchallenge, some people interpret the challenge themes in very different ways.
So, back to my wife -- she does the art piece, and I do the photography of the piece. The shoot for this month's challenge was pretty hurried and harried, but it came out reasonably well, considering how difficult it was to effectively light her creation...
In short, I think between the outstanding quality of her work and the at-least-decent quality of my photographs, she has a real chance of winning this month.
I won't bias the voting any more than I might already have from my comments above, but if you have a moment and would like to go vote, voting is open to anyone. Please look over the entries and pick your favorite. If you happen to like how one of them is photographed, all the better. :D (wink wink nudge nudge!!!)
Mind-WideOpen Challenge
Of course, if there are other physical media artists here (or digital artists for that matter) who are interested, the contest is held each month and open to anyone -- so feel free to bookmark the site and submit next month! Like dpchallenge, it's all about just getting the votes and seeing where you place, but sometimes they have "real" prizes, too -- I think this month there is a gift certificate to an online craft store or something.
Hope you enjoy it, and I hope I can stir up some votes for my wife. ;)
Thanks - Chuck

Well, like I said in my original post, I don't want to unfairly influence the vote (not too much at least...). So I'm just saying go look at the contest and pick your favorite! I'm just really hoping that favorite will be my wife's. ;)

Well, I can't argue with that first part.... and for second part you get a big hug!!! *HUG* :D
From counting up the votes, she keeps bouncing between first and second place!! (It's a close race right now)... So, keep those votes a'comin'... Voting ends midnight Wednesday January 14th.

I'll take a look later. "blogspot.com" gives me a headache lately, most of (my) time unreachable. Still not sure if it's just me, the Netherlands, Europe or the whole world who has that problem. |

SHE WON!!!
I've been offline for a while (details to come in a Rant post... grrrr...), but I'm back and just wanted to a heartfelt THANKS to all those who voted! Nicole won first place (her first win on this site!); followed closely by second- and third-place winners. One of the top-three was a digital art entry! (So, all you PS gurus really 'ought the check this challenge out for future months!)
So, thanks again -- and I hope Nicole and I see some DPCers in some of the future challenges.
