Looking to add a second flash. I have an SB800 but don't want to spend anywhere near that much. There seems to be mixed reviews on Vivatar 285HV, but that's about the price I'm looking for. Any suggestions?

Depends on what you want to do with it. To use it on-camera, I'd say it's probably a little less sophisticated than your Nikon. If you're looking to go Strobist style and use it off-camera, then it's a great option, hands down. But a little more info might help us help you better :-)

I enjoy my 285HV's - they've suited me well for off-camera, manual usage. If you use i-TTL, definitely save up for another SB-600 or SB-800. If you're just using manual power settings, go with a 285HV or equivalent inexpensive model.

If you want to sell your SB-600, or even partially trade for my 285HV, PM me. =D
