That has GOT to be computer-faked? It can't possibly be real? Or can it...?
For an actual ping pong match that's bizarre, check out this one:

I would say that's impossible, but because it's Bruce Lee it might be real. |

My wife and I went to one of those Chinese Acrobat Shows back in August I actually have some photos of it in my portfolio, there was one dance routine in the mix where they included a display of martial arts It looked just like a Bruce Lee movie, perhaps it was taken from one of his movies, The guys who performed it both very fast and spot on accurate. Roundhouse Kicks missing faces by only a fraction of an inch. I laughed to myself thinking what if they goofed up and someone got their teeth kicked into the front row of seats. Anyhow, watching that alone would convince most people that Bruce Lee was for real because these guys proved it live on stage that those moves can be done by a human. |

lol at Chuck reference. A couple of years ago at a family reunion we were talking about Chuck Norris, when my cousins 12 year old son said to us, boy you guys are lame, Chuck Norris is the guy from that infomercial on TV not a Movie Star. We had a good laugh and told my cousin to rent that kid some Chuck Movies so he doesn't wander through his entire life confused.

I don't for a second doubt the reality of Bruce Lee. The guy was absolutely awesome, unbelievable. What I'm doubting is that ANYONE could use round nunchucks to deliver a ping pong ball with such accuracy. The whole thing seems to be a Nokia promotion, so I am suspecting computer manipulation here. I admit I could be wrong, but... Can anyone PROVE the accuracy (or inaccuracy) of this clip? I'd love to know.

I don't think there's anyway that someone (even Bruce Lee) could do that. Think about how hard it is for the best baseball players in the world to hit a baseball. The ball's 10 times bigger than the ping-pong ball, the bat's 10 times bigger than the nunchakus and the bat is solid, rather than separated into two pieces by a chain. I'm pretty sure it's humanly impossible to hit a fast-moving small ping-pong ball with a small round stick at the end of foot-long chain AND get the ball to go exactly where he wants it to go the way he does in that video.
It's probably faked the same way they faked the tennis matches in the movie Wimbledon (see the special features on the DVD). Watch the video closely and you'll see two high, bouncing shots on "Lee's" side of the table that look a little unnatural. The scene is choreographed and the actors go through all the motions without a ping-pong ball. The ball is then added in using CGI. This works great until you need a slow-moving ball, where it becomes difficult to get the motion right. |

Could be fake, but wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t. Our 18A softball team a couple years ago used a wiffle ball pitching machine that shoots golf ball size wiffle balls at 40mph at 30 feet which is approx. 90mph pro-baseball pitchers speed, the kids used a broom stick as a bat and was very good at hitting the ball, not as consistent as the ping pong, yet pretty impressive.

Jack Bauer can do that with his canvas messenger bag, shouting "dammit!" each volley.
Sometimes the balls move so fast, they draw blood when striking his opponent.
No big deal--Jack just throws Chuck Norris on the floor and mops up the blood with him. |

Just a thought: This is the first time any mention of such an occurrence has surfaced. Is it really likely to be genuine?

FAKE Explain how you can generate topspin with any nun-chucks? Ping pong paddles are wood covered by texturized rubber for a reason! It's a cool CG video but, come on people!!! |

Well, just to be the devil's advocate, you generate spin with golf clubs and they are metal. And besides, granting that's really Bruce Lee, he could have coated the nunchuks...
But I ain't buyin it, it's just a really clever viral marketing spoof by Nokia, and kudos to them!

i dont think that's Bruce Lee because his face looked different.

I have seen bits of the nun-chuk footage of Bruce Lee before, but he wasn't playing ping pong. I think this is probably a pretty well edited video, but not really Bruce playing ping pong. |
