Id really like to give this challenge a try, but im not sure what to use during shooting. What type of lens (mm wise) would work best? It will be dark for sure when i shoot (work until 7p). Im sure i need to put my iso to 1600 right? What about aperture and shutter speed?

Thank you for the help and tips!

Good luck to all of you who live in areas that (a) celebrate the new year's with fireworks and (b) can handle the weather. I've been sick all week; the last thing I want to do is fight the crowds in Central Park tonight in 0-degree fahrenheit (wind chill) temps.

Brief overview:
\
1. Fireworks are VERY bright, ISO 100 is just fine.

2. F/8 or F/11 at ISO 100 seems to be about right.

3. You use a time exposure, and try to get several bursts in one shot. How long the time exposure will be depends on the frequency of the bursts.

In the series of images that included this one, I had mistakenly left my camera at ISO 400 from early, low-light shooting, and I paid the price with overexposed fireworks that were a bitch to PP:

Unfortunately, we're having a blizzard right now, so I don't think shooting fireworks tonight for the speed challenge is an option :-(
