I am looking at another lens (planning my attack) and am wondering what the different letters after the lens size mean? i.e. Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens, Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor Lens, Nikon AF-S Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED
I have seen several different letters (G, D, ED, IF, no letter) after the f/ value...and I am just trying to see what the differences are and I can't seem to find any real good descriptions as to what the letters mean...can anyone help me out here? I am looking more for a macro/micro prime lens and would appreciate any guidance as to why one lens vs. another...why one f-stop vs. another and why they different letters...
Thank you for taking time to answer....this has been a great sounding board for me....
