I'm so glad I don't photograph kids. My heart goes out to those who do it for a living.

I did my yearly, break out my strobes around the Chrismas Tree and have the kids pose for some shots. Granted my kids are 2, 3, and 4 years old. But there was too many:

"Stand here please."
"Don't touch the umbrella (on the strobe)"
"No, stand here."
"Look up."
"Where are you going? I said stand here."
"Okay, sit here. No, don't play with the tree."
"Don't touch the tripod."
"Stand up."
"Look up when you smile."

It went on and on. Luckily, we got some keepers. I'll have to post some shots when I get them processed.

Of course I've done this before and usually have them sit on something (so they don't move). But this time I thought I could get away from them sitting. Also, I usually only have 2 minutes before things break down into chaos.

I try and do this once a year. One will decide not to smile, and then the other one will do the same thing as soon as I get the other one to behave. So your window of opportunity is like 2 secs.

Most of the time I give up, and let them run around while I pretend I am on a safari trying to get a photo of a wildebeest or something.

I have 4 kids, 2, 3, an Autistic 8 year old (feels like having another 3 year old) and 11 year old.

I FEEL your pain!!!!! I cannot get their pictures at all on my own. Luckily, I have hubby to help with the behind the camera props. I always have mine sit and often give them things to hold to keep their hands busy!!! I will post our Holiday Picture for you!

This year, for the first time, I had a set up where I could take some pictures of kids. My experience was the opposite (though I found myself saying the same things). ahaha

One of them was a family with 5 children, ages 1 - 11. The best picture, and the one the mom said she was going to use for a Christmas card (don't know if she did), had all five kids doing something different. One was making a funny face, one looked rather spacey, one was looking off to the right, one was looking off to the left and the last one was picking her nose. :P

The picture that stresses me out is the one of the entire family -- all 17 of us. We got it this year -- everyone is looking at the camera with a relatively pleasant expression. Usually, though, well, that is not the case.
