Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere and this news is just behind the times...
Below is a link to a third party Photoshop action that removes the "black spots" that were introduced with the Canon 5D Mark II. It has before/after samples that look impressive:

There has been a great deal of discussion generated about "black spots" and banding in online forums found in photographs taken with the 5D11 and there still appears to be some wide ranging disagreement about its extent, cause and temporary fixes.
Obviously, this PS action only helps fix photographs already taken and afflicted with the spots. It is a treatment for 5DII measles, but only after it has the disease. :) |

Canon has just released an updated firmware for the 5D Mark II.
Firmware Update Version 1.0.7 improves and mitigates the following two types of image quality phenomena that occur under certain shooting conditions.
1. "Black dot" phenomenon (the right side of point light sources become black)
2. Vertical banding noise

| Now I feel more comfortable now about buying one. Just have to find one in stock. |
