Hi I am not good with PS and tend to start Post for my needs, i was wondering if i can PM a PS Guru instead of starting a Post

Post away! It's good for others to see to. The Guru's will help everyone at once!

Well some of my queries are really elementry, more related with practical steps of using PS tools
For Example. I tried following tutorial on , "Blurring", I had never used gradient tool before.

After i fill the layer with dark bluse color and follow the instruction as given in tutorial , after choosing choice from foreground to transparent, I tried that and I simply could not create transparent are as per tutorial .

It won't be worth starting Post for topics like mentioned above. So I thought it would be better PM a Guru

I'm not really a guru, more just a user.
Some topics or "lessons" could be:
Blurring, Unsharpen Mask, Borders, Curves, Filters, Layer Use, Healing Brush, Clone Tool, Feathering, Preferences, Rotation...ect
I know there are tutorials on some of these, or at least used to be. That's about all I can think of for now.

Well we can fix that easily. After you select the gradient tool you'll see in the upper left hand side a little box that shows what the gradient will look like. Click it. It will bring up the gradient editor. The first option which is the one selected by default creates a gradient that goes from the foreground color to the background color. You'll want the next option which goes from foreground color to transparent. Click on it and then continue with the tutorial as normal.

I would do things a little different than the tutorial but the end result is the same. Open your image, duplicate the layer. Make sure the bottom layer is selected.

On the toolbar just underneath where you select the background and foreground color there are two buttons. The one on the left which is normally selected is the edit in standard mode button. The one on the right is edit in quick mask mode button. Select the quick mask mode button.

Now on the bottom layer draw your gradient. The standard way a quick mask works is it covers(colors) what you want to protect. i.e. the part that gets colored. In the tutorial you are covering what you want to change. If that is the behavior you want simply select the reverse box on the gradient tool before you apply it. You can go back through the history repeatedly until you get exactly the gradient you want. When you're happy again go back to the tools and select the button to work in normal mode. Your gradient has turned into a selection. You can now simply apply the gaussian blur as you normally would.

EDIT: You may also want to apply a less drastic blur for a more realistic effect.

General

You posted a question a few days back asking for PS help changing a colour background.

I and a couple of others answered and I even posted a pic of the possible solution you were after.

You didnt reply or respond to the post

Is this the same project?
