Anyway JPEG 2000 uses wavelts so screw Forgent :)


There are many technical aspects, political issues, and mathematical algorithms to JPEG compression that go far beyond discrete cosine transform (DCT). Block size, suitable color space, decode to components, down sample each component by averaging together groups of pixels, quantization coefficient, progressive and hierarchical coding, etc., all add to make JPEG compression complex and diverse.

Some argue that there is prior art to CLI. As a result, Forgent's claim must be confirmed by an appropriate court of law. Only time will tell the story...
