I would love to see some of the challenges allow for entries of 'related' photos taken in the past 12 months.

I am busy, and most of the challenges are like a week or so. Being an amateur photographer I am not always able to go out and hunt for the shot. But often I have a shot I've take within the past few months that's perfect in every way EXCEPT....it wasn't taken during the small one week window.

I would really like to see some longer windows. That doesn't mean the submission time is longer than a few days. But any shot taken within say 6 months would be valid for submission. Not just shots taken during the submission window....

Any thoughts?

It´s a good idea. Would like for instance one challenge on a monthly base.

We all feel this way from time to time... most of us are pretty busy, or at least we pretend to have lives, LOL.
It seems to be a consensus though (do a search for other threads on the subject) that the tight time window is a defining feature of DPC.

Doesn't the "Free Study" challenges they put up from time to time count as a monthly challenge??

I don't get to do every challenge either. But every week, a good 100 - 300 people do, and they submit. Can you imagine the amount of images to vote on if that were allowed?

That would also defeat the purpose of the whole challenge of the site though.

I´ve also been considering that and I think you are absolutely right Karen. Probably this site is simply to "big" for such challenges. But sometimes you wish you had a litle longer timeframe but then again you can find a bunch of other sites where you can submit the best image in you collection.
One of the things that makes this site what it is is how continous and "fast going" it is (is it it isisissis etc........)

Worth1000 has no date restrictions that I know of. If you need to enter a shot that is older, or even scanned from film, try there.

Also betterphoto.com ... they even have prizes for the winners. Very competetive though.

Like everybody else I also pretend to be to busy to submit each week but like the idea of only having a week to think about what to photo and submit it. Imaagine having to vote on 20% of all photos if 1000 shots/ month...

Another photography (and digitally-altered) submission site.
