Hi Folks,

I am considering a 4th lens for my D40. Currently have the Nikkor 18-55 VR, Nikkor 55-200 VR and the Nikkor 50mm 1.8D.

Been looking at these two Sigmas:

Sigma APO 120-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM
Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 AF APO DG OS HSM

I like the fact they can autofocus on my D40 and that they have built-in stabilisation. I was intriqued to see these are APO lenses (am an amateur astronomer and APO lenses are - or at leats used to be - the bee's knees for refractors).

Anyway - back to reality!

I am asking if any folk have personal experience with either or both of these? I am not much interested in sports photography but am very interested in wildlife photography. Based on my current lenses the 150-500 seems to be a more logical match to the 55-200, but, especially with a lack of internet reviews on these, I am wondering if the extra 100mm from the 150-500 would be worth the extra cost as far as image quality. Or would the 120-400 provide a a better image that would prove superior when enlarging it?

I'd very much appreciate any input.

Michael
