There apears to be some confusion on what blaspheme is. The defamation fo the Lords name does not qualify according to Thomas, Mark, Matthew or Luke. It is the denouncement of the Holy Spirit that is blaspheme and unpardonable. However, if one does not believe in the Holy Spirit to begin with, then denouncing such wouldn't really matter.

A fourth and similar passage is found in verse 44 of the Gospel of Thomas. This gospel was widely used in the early Christian church among Gnostic congregations, but was not selected to be part of the official canon. It states:
Jesus said, "Whoever blasphemes against the Father will be forgiven, and whoever blasphemes against the son will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the holy spirit will not be forgiven, either on earth or in heaven." 1

Sorry for butting in on the debate out of nowhere. I'd just like to address this common misundertanding I notice in these threads fairly often.

Allah, the Christian and the Jewish gods are all one and the same. Mohammed, Jesus, Moses, Abraham, Noah and all the other prophets since -and including- Adam (I can't remember the exact number of prophets off the top of my head) are equally revered by Islam as the messengers of Allah. "Allah" is merely the name of the god, which, according to Koran, is the very same god as the Jews and the Christians believe in. So there's no blasphemy there. However, Muslims believe that both the Jews and the Christians perverted the true word of god and altered Torah and Bible to suit their deviant purposes. That's why Mohammed was tasked by god (Allah) to show people the light yet again. In the case of Christianity, the real blasphemy -one which is even worse than destroying the god's true message and rewriting the Bible- is the Holy Trinity and Jesus being the son of god, or god's spirit, or god himself, or whatever the Holy Trinity is all about (Hard as I have tried over the years, I can't seem to fully grasp the whole thing). Anyway, according to Islam, Jesus was just a regular, mortal but highly virtuous man chosen by god (Allah) as his messenger. By making him the god's (Allah's) equal, Christians committed the ultimate sin, as Islam states that there's one and only one god, and nobody and nothing whatsoever in the entire universe, heaven and hell can ever be his equal. So, that is the blasphemy. To recap, Islam sees itself the last true and pure message sent by god, who had previously sent whole bunch of other messages through his prophets including Moses and Jesus. But after Islam, there will never be any other prophets or messages until the end of the world, at which time -incidentally- Jesus will descend from the heaven and fight alongside the messiah. Muslims proudly believe that Koran still is exactly, verbatim, down-to-the-last-punctuation-mark as it was sent to Mohammed by god 1400 years ago. Therefore, unlike the holy books of Judaism and Christianity today, it is the god's (Allah's) only pure, unadulterated word; the only "message" worth believing in.

Note: I'm not Muslim. In fact, I'm an atheist. I have been one since -and I'm quoting the late George Carlin here- "I reached the age of reason...at around 3". My knowledge of Islam is not exactly superficial but does not go very deep either. Moreover, I have no interest in learning more about any religion. I had nothing better to do when I saw the post quoted above so I decided to write a few words. So, if you are interested in a debate regarding Islam, I'm not your man.
