Hi

I just wanted to see if anybody else who uses a Mac has found Preview to be a really useful tool for retouching submissions. Despite having Aperture 2 and PS CS4; I find that after I've done most of my post processing and have resized it for uploading to DPC, a quick use of Preview to make final adjustments to colour, contrast etc works a treat.

Having spent about £800 on software, I've been quite surprised how useful this (bundled with operating system) software has proven to be.

Does anybody else use Preview like this too.

I didn't know preview could do minor edits. I have a Mac, but all my editing is done on my faster PC, which has all the appropriate software on it.

I run Leopard on my Mac and the little editing box with preview is a great little tool, I love it. It even does RAW too. I have been known to tweek stuff for other websites using this tool but never used it for DPC, I tend to stick with the big guns for here and also for any work that I have done for customers but it is great.

I find preview to be hit or miss as it rarely represents the shot accurately, especially after converting from RAW and sharpness. I found iPhoto does much better rendering and editing. But yes, I have found that there is a minor touch-up tool in Preview, I noticed it just the other day.

Now that a few Mac users are engaged in this thread can I ask if you use Aperture 2 too? The reason I ask is that mine has been playing up recently - many adjustments result in either the whole screen or half of the screen going black or occasionally displaying a corrupt image. If I reset Aperture or create a duplicate image, everything is fine (at least until the next adjustment).

I'd be tempted to think that this is due to a low specification system but given it is an 8 core 3.2Ghz Mac Pro with 4Gb of ram and a 8800GT 512Mb card; I'd have thought it could handle editing an image.

Has anybody else run into this issue?

Nice setup. I'm on a MBP Penryn 2.4 GHz 4GB Ram.

Anywho, I'm one of those Digital Photo Professional users for RAW conversion and then CS3 for everything else. I'll do touch ups to snapshots in iPhoto. I guess I'm still trying to figure out a routine/workflow. If I could get my hands on Aperture or Lightroom I would be estatic.
