I keep thinking of a good reason why would the DQ'd shots be hidden from everyone. I can't seem to find any good one. Well ok I agree some users that with knowledge of it broke rules may not whant that to hang on theyr profiles for ever. But I seen some users who were DQ'd and wish theyr shot would still be available in the galleries with the coments they recived during challenge. I think a checkbox "hide my dq'd shot" would make everyone happy, those who want to hide it, and would work good for those that made a purely human mistake like a wrong date on theyr camera and such, and they don't feel so guilty about it. I seen numerous threads of dq'd people who wish theyr shot would be available for everyone to see.

I completely agree.

There have been numerous previous threads on this topic ... the brief summary is that we want to neither glorify (with additional exposure) nor shame DQ'd photos.

Once a challenge is over, people are free to add the DQ'd photo to their portfolio (or other hosting site) and post it in an Individual Photo Discussion thread if they want feedback.

Maybe I am missing something here but one is more than able to post any photo in thier gallery whether it was DQ'ed or not. Some of my gallery shots were taken long ago and some were (heaven forbid) even taken on film. The DQ'd shots I have seen lately were DQ'd for good reason but the owner is more than able to post them, are they not?

I want to see EVERYBODY's response to a challenge, even if they've been disqualified. The alternative suggestions here don't allow me to do that.

They were complaining mostly for loosing theyr comments they recived. I donno I never been dq'd yet I just saw a few threads on this recently and I thought a simble checkbox would solve theyr problem. Atlest I think it would be ok to be visible to them only. From what I understand they are never deleted. So why not alow the man to see his own comments he recived? Some may be helpful for theyr learning process or for theyr ego I donno, but I can't see a reason to not allow that.

(from another thread...)

After the challenge ends, can the option be given to the photographer to put their DQed image directly into their portfolio so that they may keep the commments (not the score, since it was DQed)?

Granted, the photographer would have to be a site member, but I know I would want to be able to have all the commments.

Edit: I'm smart, I just saw this thread on basically the same topic. Sorry!

I agree this should be looked at.

Of course, it also depends on the nature of the DQ - if it's for a rule infringement, then that should be fine, but if it's for a breach of the site usage policy (eg copyrighted materials, graphic nudity, etc), then obviously that needs to remain hidden...

It's bad enough that I personally have to see the infamous pencil DQ occationally...I wouldn't want to put everyone through that pain. ;)
