Could buy a couple "lesser" bodies and some GREAT GLASS for that price.

Yeaah. you could buy a d3 and a 5d ii and still have money left over.

I agree on the whole price thing. Is it really worth it? Bottom line is that you're paying $4,000 (you can get the D3 at B&H for just $4,200 now) just for more resolution over the D3. You can buy 2 D3s for the price of the D3x! And in turn, you're giving up the speed and the amazing ISO capabilities of the D3. I thought this would be announced at $5,500, so I'm a little disappointed. Really don't think I can justify spending that much more just for a 33% increase in resolution.

Sorry...had to vent. I still think that someone at Nikon accidentally hit the "7" key instead of the "5" when they wrote the price (you know...should've been $5,999 instead of $7,999)

I agree, it's just not worth the money. But it could be a start high then drop the price deal. I mean in 3 months I'm sure $500 will come off the price.

3 years later - I bought the D3s and that little girl is now 3.5 going on 15
