I need to visulize the word "Enpowerment". It is a part of our brand positioning. Any idea how I could do that?

I guess a classic motivational poster kind of idea would be to have a runner winning a race. If I was feeling more cynical, I would photograph a sleazeball with tons of cash and people running around him. There are millions of ways of getting this... what makes you feel good about yourself and powerful? What do you want in life? This is you when you have what you want in life. Or getting whatever it is that you need to make your dreams happen.

For me empowerment means giving people the responsibility to achieve something but also the means (resources, tools etc) to ensure it can be achieved, make it realistic, but leaving it up to them to determine how best to achieve it.

Maybe children in your image could be used to create a strong message.

Any relation needed to your brand or your company's activities ?

Could be a good challenge theme.

I'd see that more as belittlement than empowerment. If you can capture the act of meeting a goal in some way, that could work. Maybe a sports action shot like a runner breaking the ribbon, as mentioned by Bobster, or a climber reaching the summit. Those are good for self empowerment. As far as one person empowering others, that is much harder to do.

EDIT: Thought of one. A coach lauding a player.

A young man or woman in cap & gown, arms open wide with a diploma in one hand, looking down the road. That's empowerment, to me.

Think of an image where a person is given the tools or resources he or she needs. There are many examples... handing a new pitcher the baseball, Hephaestus giving lightning bolts to Zeus, trusting a credit card to a teenager, King Arthur pulling Excalibur from the stone, a caveman discovering fire... the list goes on.

Wow, not to me... but maybe that's because I have a degree and masters in music. Not too helpful really.

I guess what they want is to show how we (the company I work for) "enpowers" others in their business.

Unfortuatly we used alot of sport images recently when my CEO informed the organisation about "how to reach our tagets" etc.

I really like your suggestions so far.

Dont know how enpowering it is, but I think of a infant trying to walk with the hands of an adult holding his hands. Or you can catch just that transition where the child lets go of the hand of the adult to venture out on his own.

Training wheels?

Maybe just something as simple as a close up of a handshake.

Does your CEO mean empower or enable ?

Enabling for me is giving the tools but leave it fully up to others what to do with them, empowerement is more about giving a direction, a target, a responsibility as well.

I can imagine that between businesses in a subcontracting relationship, working together to create a product for a customer, but how does that work between businesses in a customer/supplier relationship ?

To use a sports image : you could use a trainer and an athleet, the trainer pointing at the finish while handing over the required tool (e.g. a bike) to the athleet.
