Not from a wedding (but maybe it was practice)

Like the skintones better on these? How about the composition.

Most of the stuff I post here has been cropped to fit 5x7 or 8x10 ratios because I need to print it for the models' portfolios (or mine).

Thanks for looking and commenting,

Kev

Both nice pics. In the top one, I would have preferred her eyes open. But in any case, if you use it, you should consider cloning out that gray and black thing left towards the bottom in the background

My only minor nit with the bottom one is that it looks like he's staring at her ear, might have been better to me if he was looking towards her face just a bit more.

yeah, they are nice.. like like the almost kissing one...
however :) i can tell they are not a couple as his hands look a little reserved on her waist.. if they were together.. his fingers would be out and AROUND her.

Neal,
Good eye. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll clone that out and dampen the bright spots above and to the left of her head.

Tyler,
Actually they are a couple and it was all I could do to keep them off each other. His mother does hair and makeup for several of my photoshoots and if he had any reservations it was either from me trying to keep them apart enough for me to capture the "anticipation" of that second right before a kiss (that's what I was going for here) or from his mom standing beside me and watching the setup. They had been to their prom the night before and were running on little sleep and by this time we'd already been out in 70 degree temps for over an hour; him with a vest and coat with tails and her in a long dress. Their ardor made for some really cute shots and my only problem now is making the time to edit all of them as they really got some great shots together.

Thanks for the comments,

Kev

I like the top one the best. I agree about the gray thing, it isn't terribly distracting, but would its absence would only improve the shot.

The second one, I find a bit awkward. As someone already mentioned , it looks like he's gazing in her ear. Might be better to have them looking at each other or both gazing off in the same direction. Also, I think the way it's cropped on the bottom causes problems by chopping off his fingers, her left arm and making it look like her right hand is magically appearing on his elbow. It might help to just have a wider shot that shows more of the couple.

This is all just my opinion and you are free to take it as you wish.

Dan,

I can see what you're saying. It's funny tho. I show these to people who aren't privy to the critiques and comments I get from DPC, PhotoSIG and FredMiranda and they like these shots. Often the ones that I get the most clearly defined technical critiques on are some of the very ones that "paying" people like the best. Don't know why. Maybe it was because when I shot this I was "zoned" and not paying attention to some of the more rudimentary technical aspects that help to make a good composition but I got some particular look that helps those who know the subjects to feel connected when they look at the shot. Who knows. Regardless, thanks for your comments. I can see the things you point out. Sadly the bottom of the 2nd composition is actually where I cut off that photo. There is a series that have more of their bodies (used the 17-40 so I just slowly zoomed in and out to get a whole set of looks and compositions) but I liked her look and the interplay of the wind in her hair in this one the best.
