You couldn't pay me to shop today! I tried it once, many years ago. I waited in the middle of the night for a wal-mart to open to get a deal on something that my daughter really, really wanted. I was the second person into the store & went directly to where it would be. I was the first person to that display area. And, it was already gone. The employees had already picked up all the deals. That was it for me. This year I went shopping on Wednesday when everyone else was in the grocery store. I shopped with ease, the store was deserted. I didn't even have to wait in line to check out. |

I don't even know what to say about this... it's just very sad and somewhat depicts the moral condition of our country. "Consumerism" has taken hold and gone way past anything being healthy. I read a statistic last night that said on Black Friday last year out of the millions of shoppers each spent on average $347. Take this as it is but I think if a depression or some "real" total economic collapse would take place many it would heal or somewhat repair the state we are in. If people can spend this sort of money and more generally manage their money in this way, no one should be complaining about the economy. And the government should not further the problem of stupidity "mismanagement" or whatever you want to call it and bail out these companies like CitiBank and GM who are obviously running a failing system of management for the year 2008. I will end with this... but I don't blame the economic situation on the big businesses, but on the lack of any wisdom on the part of the common consumer.
but hey, if I only have $2000 I can go out and by a $10,000 dollar camera and lens... the "American Way". Yeah Right!

It's appalling but the cause of death hasn't been confirmed yet. He may have died from a heart attack just as the doors were opening, who knows. Sad to hear four others were hurt too including a pregnant woman.

It said Wal-Mart is saddened by the death, but will they do anything for his family. Probably not. |
