Some test images from an outdoor test shoot with my new Sigma:-)
All images are 100%, no crop done.

I had read in the reviews that this lens is terribly soft at 300 mm. I didnt find that a big problem. Most of these shots are at 300mm focal length.. of course I used a tripod. Sadly it wasnt too cloudy, so there is bright sunlight evident in most of them.
I would welcome any comments that would help me improve further.
Thanks! |

They look pretty good to me. I used the same lens on my 300D and 30D. There is a hint of softness at 300mm, but nothing too drastic and easily rectified in PP. The canoe/kayak(742514) is slightly soft, but still good.
I went with the Tamron 70-300mm with the 30D and then with the Pentax, it seemed sharper with good colour rendition. However, you are only just starting with it and once you learn the latitudes of the lens, you will find you get the results you expect. The Sigma is a good value lens, which is very popular, and a top seller.
Look forward to seeing more shots:) |

Thanks.
Yes the kayak one is soft. But I am counting it as my error for now:-)
