Does anybody have a recommendation for gloves that really keep the hands warm and stay on to operate the camera? I have to take my current gloves off - they're just too bulky. |

I like to use gloves without fingertips.
Seems to still keep my hands warm enough while allowing me to get to buttons etc.

You can even get "convertibles" - they have a mitten-like cover over your fingertips that you can flip back to reveal the "fingerless" part.
Something like this

Something like this? There are other stores where you can buy similar gloves, made from fleece, I have found them in Eddie Bauer outlet stores, Fred Meyers.
Hope this helps!

I use mitts/gloves without fingertips, they keep the back of your hands and wrists warm, whilst stilling allowing fingertip touch. I buy the cheap ones, nothing too expensive as they all do the same job. Usual brand are 'thinsulate', don't know if you have this brand?? But they are good and only cost a couple of pounds. |

I use mini gloves inside flip-top mitts. |

Yup, and found some mini-gloves with those grippy dots that now live in my camera bag year-round. |

You can find those gloves at tack shops and co-op type places, too.

Under Armour gloves. They sell some that you wear under ski gloves. They are awesome. I can feel and control every button on my cameras with them and they are warm enough I can shoot hockey games in deep freezers without a single finger getting cold. $25 on their website.

I have a similar pair from north face, after a recent trip to churchill, MB (COLD...polar bears live there, -26 with wind) I found the north face underneath with a pair of thinsulate gloves over top where I could flip the mitts off on top, worked best. When really cold I would only take my shooting finger out of the mitt. On the coldest of the days I was there I also stuck a 'toe warmer' in between the 2 layers of gloves.... ahhh toasty!

Flip top gloves ~ $10 a pair

Totally agree with these, they are great! Of course, I'm speaking as a band geek from back in college where the clarinet players wore those gloves!

For those that don't know about them, "Flip Top Mittens" are terrific: they are like knit gloves with fingertips cut off and a mitten "sheath" bthat can be flipped back to expose the fingers when you need dexterity/precision:

I couldn't live without mine on cold, blustery winter days, which are some of the best for shooting.

Any link on those mini gloves? Why mini? I have wide hands? lol Seriously though, I'm going to be shooting out doors quite often this winter and I need to keep my hands warm. They freeze up faster than a few years ago.
For now I use the cheap brown workman's glove that's made of cotton. Good for temps down to -6 C (25F) or so. I'll look into those gloves that Bear mentioned too. I'll try them all until I find something.

Under Armour are fantastic gloves. Since they are so thin and form fitting, you can wear them under another pair of gloves. Slip off the thicker gloves and you still have the more flexible Under Armour to work with. (Great when riding a motorcycle in fall and early spring.) Another little trick is to slip surgical gloves over the Under Armour to keep them dry or improve grip. My wife will sometimes slip dish washing gloves over her UA gloves for various tasks. |

Mini gloves stretch like crazy and can be found pretty much anywhere, grocery store, Canadian Tire, Dollar store ....
They are very thin so handling the camera is still possible and the fingies stay warm. The flip top mits keep the rest of the hand warm. When you you need to warm up a bit, just flip the top back over for a bit.

They look like child's gloves and are made of knit material.
Another place that may have them is Bentley.
