OK, so this has been going on for a while now (about 2 months) I have been Illustrating a book about the History of my town Hitchin in Hertfordshire. I wanted to shout about it ages ago but thought I would wait until it was more 'REAL' you know, I mean things can go wrong right? and I could of said "YIPPEEEEE IM PUBLISHED!!!" then have to write "it never made it to print" or something like that... ANYWAY... yesterday I went to the printers and there was the book all printed and ready to go to binding, so, although it is not COMPLETE yet it is going to be finished in 2 or 3 days. I got my copy all ready (unbound of cause) and just wanted to share my JOY at finally getting my work in print. The front cover was done by myself, the back cover was done by my wife Hanae and the 40 photographs inside the book was also done by us, we are both excited and everyone is getting a book for Xmas in our family. LOL.
I am more than happy to ship copies out to anyone that would like to have one, the book is really easy to read (with wonderful illustrations) and it's size is about 5" square.. the price is £7.99 retail and If you would like to have a copy please add shipping and I am very happy to send them out to you.
Anyway, here is the front cover as it is...

Congrats, Marak and Hanae! That must be such a thrill.
I have a friend living in Hitchin, when I get back from Antarctica I'll see if she wants to buy a copy. Remind me when you see me next.

Thanks everyone, Melethia, will be a pleasure to send you out a copy, I will make sure to have it signed by the writer and by us too of cause.
It was/is exciting to see my work in print, we went to see the writer today and she is writing a Spy book now because John buchan was a local resident aparently, I have no idea about history as I slept through all my history lessons in school, ironically now I LOVE History...

Thank you so much for the interest, I will make a list here of anyone who wants this book shipped out to them.
Any DPCer that go's for it will receive one signed by the writer and of cause myself and Hanae.
I have spoken to the writer and explained this website to her and she is willing to let them go to DPC'ers for a reduced fee of £7, it's only a small drop but still, better than nothing.

The photos inside are B&W, the best thing about this little gem is the history it shows, it is very well written, Pamela Sheilds is a 70 year old historian with 5 other titles to her name, she is a most excellent writer.
Anyway, thanks for the interest and enjoy your books.
Official release date for this book is the 28th friday so please do not send any money to me just yet until I have the books to hand, they are at the binders now and they are said to be due ON TIME.
I do not have paypal but will sort out a way to do it.

ROFL!! .....as a fellow Olympian, I didn't realize you were capable of getting a lowish score, and as I wasn't around for the money challenge, I didn't recognise the image. It just goes to show that the DPC scores aren't everything, and once again, well done on following your dream, and being published. LOL! |
