Okay, so I'm wondering if I never noticed it before or if I just threw something off. I make all my changes in RAW using DPP (expsure, add sharpen etc.). I make all the changes I need and then I convert all them to exif-JPG. I then go to view the JPGs in Windows default viewer or even OSX default (preview) and I notice the color changes I made, but the sharpness doesn't show in these programs when I open them, so they look out of focus or smudgy. If I open in CS3 or any photo editor the sharpness and edits are exact. Am I missing something? I ask because I'm giving this certain family a disc of the shots and I don't want them to open them, set as wallpaper, and then have it look like crap. Thanks for any help in advance.

Any ideas? Shows up fine once imported to iPhoto though. Hmmm.

DId you get the book on RAW Color Conversion? or any book on computers and color conversion? Be a good idea. Talks a bit about sharpening etc also.
Those crappy viewers are exactly for that...to view. Did you go down to 100% to look at them in the viewers? Most programs "simulate" anything not 100%. Even PHotoshop

No, but it's on my Christmas list. I think I'm going to go thumb through it at Border's sometime this week.
Ah! I see, that's what I wasn't sure about. Thanks, once I go in to 100 I can see the sharpening for sure. Stupid preview viewers!
