I've had a Minolta Maxxum 7D for quite a while now - since when it used to be a brand new release! I do like the camera a lot, but probably because I never actually used it a lot. Some travel shoots here and there.
Anyway, I decided to take my photographic hobby a little more serious now and I've noticed the huge difference in quality the Maxxum 7D has to offer when compared to the most recent cameras - obviously, right?! Technology never stops moving forward.
So my question is: which camera should I upgrade to?
My only consideration, I believe, should be the cost to upgrade. I would like to keep the three lenses I have that fit the Minolta (but this is not mandatory) and I would like to buy a camera that is really good, but not necessarily "professional" good.
Any directions?

Probably need to give us a price range and what you plan to photograph.
I upgraded last spring to the Sony A350k and have been quite happy. I was able to reuse my Minolta lenses and thus buy the mid-range Sony, rather than buy the lower end Canon/Nikon and then buy additional lenes (or buy the higher end kit lens in the first place).
Your other option is to sell your Minolta equipment and jump onto the Nikon/Canon bandwagon. There are tons of existing threads discussing those brands. |

If you're not registered at Dyxum.com yet, I'd recommend it...
Good place to get feedback on Sony/Minolta A-mount cameras. If you decide to switch gears and sell off your Minolta gear it's a good place for that too (after you let me know first what you have to offer). :-D
