On this new laptop I got from Eric, the gaskbar at the bottom of the screen "hides" unless you hover the mouse over it. In general this is nice (more screen real estate) but the problem is sometimes the hover doesn't DO anything. Which is frustrating when I want to switch to another of many tasks I run simultaneously, especially chat windows that dive under the active window. Especially frustrating is not seeing tghe chat icon in taskbar flash when a new message comes in.

But I don't know how to switch ikt to "always visible" taskbar. I'm sure there's an easy way, but I have never had to do it....

ETA: it's a Win XP machine

Right click on Start. Click on Properties, go to the Taskbar Tab and uncheck the Auto-Hide Taskbar box. :)

Yeah.... Mine does that... like it hides from everyone... and then it will stick there for no reason. I just do the properties and auto hide off/on to fix it....

You could also always alt+tab to your windows to get the best of both worlds.
