I finally found the images on Flickr that the Obama campaign released of the President-elect and his family during election night. Why was I looking for them? Maybe just because I'm nosey ;o) I was sat here in the UK unable to sleep that night so watched our rather boring coverage of it and when I heard there were official photos of the man himself watching the results come in I was keen to see what historical shots had been taken...

Here are a few that I thought could have been better...

His feet are totally out of focus, face slightly out of focus but the photographer has skillfully got his tie perfectly in focus! WTF?

From a photographers point of view, if you were asked to take photos of a Presidential candidate and his family on election night...and it was likely to turn out to be a historical moment for the world (whatever your political view!) would you be happy with all the images in that collection??

Admittedly, I look at some of the them and think WOW, they got it right there but the majority of them are just snaps...I'd be interested to hear your views on journalistic images and whether if you were given the opportunity this person was...would you have come back with the same sort of images or, like me, can you see so many missed photographic opportunities within these images?

BTW, it's 2am here in the UK so I could be talking total rubbish...humour me if you can ;o)

A lot of them are shot with too slow a shutter speed. If i had the opportunity to shoot this I wouldn't care if I had to crank the iso. Then there are a few with direct flash...barf

A 5D and 2.8 lens, so it's not as though the photographer didn't have decent equipment, either...
