I've lost it a bit on the new advanced editing rules after the Time Lapse bit.

Two images combined of the same scene taken minutes apart. In that time the clouds have changed. Is there a problem with combining the two exposures to keep the clouds of one shot and not the other?

That's a good question. The answer is probably no but your best bet would be to send a ticket to the SC.

I believe you can combine different exposures (as in HDR) but not create a time lapse photo. Were you camera settings different for each exposure? I agree with cpanaioti to get an official opinion.

I think I got an answer from an old thread on the subject:

Correct? If I'm right about that then would it also hold true if you capture a bird in one of the captures but not in the others? What about a flock of birds? I'm guessing this would be a grey area or is it cut and dry?

You are correct. If you introduced a model or object on one (or some) of the frames, then it's not a single scene. I suppose if a bird or flock of birds flew through the frame, it would probably be OK since it's a natural progression of a single scene, and not something the photographer introduced.

At least I got an opinion from one person in that...

EDIT: Dang. Now I'm not sure if that thread was before or after the time lapse rules.

I was the Joe in that original question. My question was asked before the time lapse rules were done away with, 95% sure.

I think my original question had to do with having a model in a scene, with two shutterspeeds, one slow with a most likely blurry model, and another faster to stop the action and have a sharper person. I wanted to know if I could use only the sharp person. At the time I think the answer was no. However, later on I saw basically the same thing validated.

I would say not ok for your example, if the elements are dramatically different(one clouds/no clouds)
Let us know what SC decides. :)
