Perhaps, just under the little man icon, there would be nothing if you hadn't voted, yet, a red "X" if you had started voted but were under 20%, a green "X" if you weren't finished but had between 21 - 99% done, and a green check if you had finished voting on the challenge.

I know a very limited amount of coding and script, but I think this sounds pretty realistic to me. I think this would be INCREDIBLY useful because I have found myself in the same boat as you MANY times.
