I've noticed that some people have honorable mention ribbons that are brown and sticking their tongues out. They are not traditional brown ribbons, because they don't always come last, and I just can't work out what they mean.
For example, cynthiann has one for the DNMC challenge.
What's the story?

I have one of these ribbons as well. I believe it's a participation ribbon for certain challenges. |

Everybody who entered the DNMC challenge got one. (That was really a fun challenge, btw!) Not sure what any others awards of it might be for.

I've just worked out that everyone (well those not DQed anyway) who entered the DNMC challenge has one. Were they awarded for anything else?

They were awarded for at least one of the April Fools' challenges. |

Special ribbons for everyone who entered the April Fool's speed challenges of DNMC-08, Vanish-07, and Rubber Ducky-05. There were only 7 entries in Vanish because it quickly vanished as Langdon's little joke (that rather fell flat). Those who entered its replacement speed challenge didn't get the ribbons :( |

Thanks for the clarification. I've been wondering for a while and finally got up the nerve to ask :)
