I'm looking at an eBay seller who is established, has very good prices on Canon cameras, and very respectable feedback (99%+). Some of his negative feedback comments though accuse him of selling grey market cameras. He clearly says that all of his cameras come with a US warranty ("never grey market") but a few buyers say things like "claims not grey market but sure looks like it." What does this mean? I though grey market meant (by definition) meant that no US warranty was offered. Am I missing something? |

I'd be very careful. Some red flags I have found in my experiences are:
Too good to be true
Missing parts
If the seller makes excuses about something
Product pictures and not of the actual camera.

I watched the forums at Fred Miranda for about 2 weeks, and just bought a new... never used... in box... USA version with warranty 40D body for $750 delivered.
If you are patient... you can get a great deal.
*impatiently waiting for ups*

You need to look for phrases like "factory fresh" which is code for RUN FOR THE HILLS. Factory Fresh means "not factory sealed" which means you don't want it. It may have a USA warranty but is it from the manufacturer?? Because if it isn't from the manufacturer then it is a con. Lots of places will tell you that you get a USA warranty but it is through a third party. If the manufacturer won't warranty the product it is because it isn't their product. |
