What color or pattern would be good for a background for Christmas portraits? Likewise, with that particular color or pattern, what would be the corresponding colors or patterns a person should, or should not wear?
Thanks,

I used gray last year:
but am using white this year:
I am a true believer that it depends on the mood you want to set. As you can see :)
I like neutral colours so no matter what they wear, it matches. Gray, white, black. |

Thanks. They look great.
What background material did you use? |

Thank you. The first one is seamless paper, which I find very annoying as it is a PITA to keep clean. The second one is pure white vinyl. Easy as pie to clean, I can leave it up and not worry about footprints, etc... |

The past few years I've used a winter scene painted on muslin. This is my fourth year and I've changed BGs to a snowy window, my supplier called it 'dickens' . It's cool as I can use it for more than just christmas.
You can go as simple as a sheet or add in props like gift boxes or trees or snow (quilt batting), etc.
I find seemless paper to not be too bad - if you don't have to move it around. A wide roll of white, locally, is like $60 and if you keep if off the floor lasts a long time. You can cut off teh end if /when it gets bad and use it for something fun (my secret on what that is...i'll post pics soon).
For the floor for hi key lowes sells in the paneling department 4x8 sheets of masonite with one side covered in while melamine. works very well, can be washed, and when it's too far gone you can paint it and use it as a BG for other things. $10 a sheet and 2 or 3 are enough for a nice big floor, and they're easy to pick up.
