Hi all, I'm a very new member and found this site from Brickfish.com since many of the members over there are members here too. I notice that a few are garnering votes from this site. Is that acceptable? If it is, can I get voting support from you folks here?
I'm an artist(paintings mostly)but have never done anything professionally and would love to break into the business. I have no clue where to start really but thought a contest might help to get exposure. I know you are all probably wanting exposure too and hence the success of sites like this. If I can return the favor by voting for you folks here, I'd be happy to help! :)
Anyway, hello and regardless if I can get some of you to vote for me or not, I am going to love this site and look forward to getting to know people and entering challenges. I photograph stuff but don't have a great camera. Despite that though my photos are not too bad. I also am a painter and work mainly with acrylics and canvas. But I use all kinds of mediums really.
Feel free to check out my blog if you wish to see some of my photography. Like I said, it's not pro but I do very well with the tools I have. If I win the Brickfish campaign I'm going to buy a professional camera. Then I will need to ask you guys what to get and where I can learn how to use it! :)

Welcome to the asylum :)
I don't think we really mind voting for folks as long as you're interested in us as a community you'd like to become part of. After all, folks here love to help, which is one of the things that makes DPC special.
Just don't encourage Slippy ( strikeslip). He's like a stray puppy; once you give him some attention he'll never go away ;)

Thank you, that is a good answer. I'm not here to use people. I genuinely love photography and want to learn all I can. I couldn't compete with any of you here just so you know...I don't have the equipment for it. But if I win that prize money look out! lol
Anyway, I know I can learn here and enjoy the community. I love meeting new people and message boards are an awesome tool for that. :)

This is a great place to get involved. It's where I learned all about photography. I started out with a little Sony Point and Shoot and now I'm doing professional shoots fairly regularly with a DSLR.
Get involved in the challenges. Comment on others shots and don't be afraid to ask questions and have fun!
