From the late 1800's up through 9-11. Most of them from the early 20th century. Lots to explore in these pics.

Great link.

Here's one with pics of old Coney Island. Gosh the beach was packed! Not as many pics but still a treat. Many have really high res versions.

steve these are awesome pictures of new york as i have visted the city not long ago ..its amazing how it has changed over the years ..those guys building the empire state building need a work safety ticket ....just goes too show how much saftey went into construction in the early years ..NONE!!!

Brilliant collection - I love old photos like these - I've seen ones of the guys building skyscrapers before ( my favourite being the one of them all having lunch on a girder) and being one of nervous disposition when it comes to heights them shots always makes my hands sweaty and stomach & bum feel a bit tingly! (seriously I have a mortal fear of building heights, but love flying in planes.. weird huh?)

I would love to go back in time with my DSLR and just shoot, but I guess a lot of the `atmosphere` in these shots is due to those old grainy B&W stocks.

I noticed that one as well, and thought how many lawsuits they would have for unsafe working conditions in this day.
