Hi all, I wasn't able to enter the wheel challenge but thought I would post one of my shots to see what you think. Any comments would be appreciated.

I would have given this a 2-4 score.. maybe a 3.
The fact is, to me, this basically documents that the stone wheels are there, but doesn't do anything to show they are special, or anything.
Sorry to sound harsh..

Cris, I'd give this one a 3 or 4 (maybe 4). The reason is you have too much extra "junk" in the shot like the building, the steps, the curb, etc. Since the "wheels" are your subject, next time walk up closer to the wheel (one on the left is more interesting) and zoom in on it a little more. That way it gives more emphasis to your subject. The other stuff in the shot is just "noise" really and doesn't give anything to the picture. |

thanks for your comment ChrisW123. I see what you mean. I did another shot of the right hand wheel which was zoomed in much closer which i converted to sepia. I'll post it later on & look forward to your comments on that shot. |

Much better. I like the placement of the wheel off to the side, and leaving in the old dead tree on the right, with the nice brick wall behind it. |

Chris ! That's almost a textbook example of how to take a 'nothing' photo up to a piece of art. Nicely done. |

Cris, technically, other than composition the first image you posted is average. As is, I would have certainly given it a 5. I really can't see scoring it lower than that.
