A friend of mine made this device happen.

He's been a Powershot G series user in several iterations and I guess he just thought it would be better if you could use it from some other angles.

My guess is that his background with medium format got him interested in the idea of shooting from the hip.

The flip mirror rotates in both directions, down for top view in landscape orientation and to the side for top view in portrait orientation.

Flip the whole camera upside down for shooting over crowds.

I personally use an angle-finder for my DSLR quite a bit and when I bought a P&S, the flip-out screen was a *MUST* (this is _the_ reason that I went with the S2 IS instead of the Panasonic FZ-20 which I later suggested that my mother purchase).

Since the days of the S2 IS, with it's 2 inch flip out screen, LCD screens have come a LONG way and now with 3 inch screens, it's no longer viable to make a flip-out...

Looks like it fits other cameras too and 3 inches is the new standard...

This would be fantastic on one of those new 'live view' DSLR's... (I'll be putting one of these on the 5D II when I get it...)
