Hey so the wedding i did cause they didn't have anyone there taking pics so i figured I was better than nothing at all and since i had the camera with me.. anyway i made a slide show I was going to save for them on a DVD.. but wanted an opinion before I did it.. Yes I know it isn't GREAT, yes I know the pictures arent GREAT. but they didn't have anyone there and i figured i'd try.. and well I learned never to do a wedding.. lol

here's the link, i didnt know how else to do it other than youtube to share on here.. //www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pkmfq2tzDQ

still, they're pretty good. I think you captured the essence very well.

should i include it on the CD? when you play it on realplayer it doesn't look anything like the pictures look on youtube..

Why not?

I think you did well, Monica! That's a very nice thing you have done, and seeing that they didn't have anyone organised to shoot the wedding I'm sure they will be extremely happy with the results! : )

Just a couple of small suggestions if I may. I would try to keep all your transitions between the pics the same. I think the crossfade works the best and keeps it flowing nicely. The other minor thing is on one of the shots where it's zooming in then starts to zoom back out again, I would edit out the bit where it zooms back out. Just a video shooting rule. If you zoom in on a shot don't zoom back out and vice versa, or if you pan across a scene don't pan back when you get to the end.

Great job!

Thanks, I will edit that right now, I thought the same of the zooming back in and was going to change that. I will also go in and make all the transitions the same, i kinda liked the breaking away with the words in the song and the next picture.. hehe but I will take your advice and fix it. :) thank you

I would include it. You did a great job! What program did you use?

and yeah, YouTube won't do it any justice.

thank you, windows movie maker.. I love that thing.. my best one ever made was about katrina. i made it shortly after the storm. it was the first time ever using it, i didn't even know my computer had it on here.. I was up at like 1 am trying to figure out what I could do a speech on for class due at 8 am.. found that and within 2 hours wa-la! I got a "d" on the speech because i cried. ( I'm from there and lost some friends) but the teacher posted the video on youtube and I didn't even know it I found out about 7 months later when someone came across it and told me it was on there!

if you wanted to check it out you can go to youtube and search monica Dugas Katrina- it starts with a newspaper..

Oh yeah, forgot to say that I would include it on the CD too! : )
Being only 3 or 4 minutes long, it's a handy and convenient way to give friends and family a quick look at the wedding! : )

Your DVD player won't read .wmv files that movie maker saves the video as.
You'll have to create a DVD in something like NERO. It will convert your video into the correct format for DVD and burn it onto a disk. You can even create menu pages and stuff. : )

hmmpf.. and where do I get NERO at? no chance it's a free download huh? lol i'll have to add it to the wish list for next time.. well that sucks.. I thought as long as you had a DVD burner on the laptop then you could burn to it and play it in the DVD player.. music CD's work that way.. I play them in the DVD player all the time when I clean and crank it up..

hmm, Nero came with the DVD burner when I got my PC. Not sure if there's any similar freeware programs that do the same thing?! Anyone else have any ideas?

What are you using to burn your DVD,s at the moment?

roxio

Ah, Roxio is similar to Nero and should have the ability to make DVD's, which version is it Monica? : )

7 basic edition, came with the puter..
10/30/2008 09:37:42 PM · #18
Does it have a DVD/Video button?
10/30/2008 09:57:32 PM · #19
You can download Microsoft Photo Story 3 for free. You can make some pretty nice slideshows with it. For $19.95 you can download a plug-in that will allow you to burn them to DVDs, viewable on any regular DVD player. It works very nicely!

it says I can do a data disc, music CD, and MP3.. I know I can copy a DVD but I'm guessing I can't make wone with it.
