No mention of subliminal anything.

Ha! That's the guy who did the geocache.

That could be close -- it puts it just off the coast of Newfoundland

on a map

Those coordinates (with the info he's already given) put you in the Atlantic Ocean.

Got scuba gear? :)

I'm pretty confident with the last 3 in each row, but who knows... Check the EXIF?

But if you change the 3 to an 8, you get put on land. :)

There's nothing in the EXIF, already checked.

OK, these are the false coordinates he has given:

N 48° 55.421 W 057° 53.614

And under the photo he says "a picture is worth a THOUSAND words", with thousand in caps. So now I am thinking maybe there is nothing in the photo and he just put that there to fool us and maybe the word thousand means something, like you have to add 1000 to either the north coordinate or west coordinate or both.

Ah, going for FTF honors, too! :)

That makes good sense... my only reason to wonder about that is whether the hider was smart enough to put the false coordinates right on a road like they did. To offset the fake coordinates to land right on the road takes a bit of skill. I think you're right about the picture having nothing to do with the coordinates, though.

LOL actually I am not planning on doing this, it's a 7 hour drive from here (although I may do it in the future). It's just that this guy has several puzzle caches out, 2 nearby, and we decided to look at his other caches to see what types he has hidden. He obviously doesn't want many people finding his caches because they are all difficult puzzles to figure out. Now if I could only figure out the 2 near me!

Well, when you figure it out, let me know so I can "borrow" the idea down here :) I have several evil caches in my area, too!

Interesting to note also that the people who hid this one have several caches that have never been found, even though they've been hidden for some time. I wonder if they have a habit of placing caches that are virtually impossible.

Here's one they have hidden near me that I would like to figure out but I can't get it.

False coordinates:

N 47° 37.697 W 052° 42.842

Puzzle:

Assume:

N 47

W 052

10-1 4-1 9-2 2-1 2-1 10-2 5-1 13-1 9-1 5-1 9-1 2-1 10-2 2-1 11-1 2-1 9-1 2-1 5-1 4-2 4-1 10-1

3-1 6-2 11-2 9-2 10-1 4-1 9-2 2-1 2-1 6-2 9-1 2-1 3-1 5-1 11-1 2-1 10-1 12-1 6-2

I have a great solution for nearly all puzzle caches: I hand them over to my wife :)

I think people spend more time looking at this photo than they do on most entries.
