| Just finished pushing the button ... a 50D is on it's way to my house! I'm super excited and doin' the happy dance ... I'm in NYC this week and went to B&H but they were out of the body only ... then went to J&R and they had it in stock ... went to the register and had sticker shock over the amount of sales tax they wanted to charge ... I resisted the instant gratification urge and walked away ... by ordering from them over the internet I saved myself $118 in sales tax (free shipping too!) ... I'll use that money to get another battery and a larger compact flash card ... |

| Congrats on your new gear! The difference from the XT to the 50D will blow you away!!!! I'm excited for ya! |

| thanks ... I'm pretty excited too! I played with it for a bit in the store (had my camera with me) ... they let me put my lens on it and use my compact flash card ... I shot in jpeg and was amazed by the image quality! |

| The Brown Truck just left (yippee!!) ... now I've got to wait for the battery to charge ... I hate that 'watched pot never boils' thing ... seems like it'll be hours before I can play with it ... |

Actually, if using the charger that came with the camera it will be less than 2 hours before you can play.
For extra batteries I would suggest third party (like sterlingtek) as they are much much cheaper than the name brand. I've been using sterlingtek batteries since I got the G3 so for a number of years now. |

| I am using the battery and charger that came with the camera ... still waiting for it to charge :( I'll post my impressions once I've had a chance to play with it ... I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! |

Jealous!! I have been wanting to upgrade so bad. Everytime I see someone buying new gear it makes me want to go out and buy so I can play along with you.
