I'm shooting portraits tomorrow for our preschool.60 kids!!! 2-5 year olds.
I plan to print and matt a single portrait for each child. Proceeds go to the school as a fundraising event. My time is donated, but is a great opporunity to expand my portfolio. Enough context.
Do the parents need to sign model releases if I have no intent of profiting from the images?
What about for the photographs I want to place in my portfolio to obtain future work? (n.b. Not my DPC portfolio.)
Cheers, Ben |

for use IN your studio it's not an issue.
for the web it may be.
for billboards or ads and such it IS an issue.
for competition it's not, UNLESS you win and the org has the right to use your image in promotions/ads.
While you may not be making money off an image directly (in the above cirsumstances) you ARE using them commercially - to advertise yourself/business.
