Or are there any programs/plugins that will perform the same function on large images for cheaper or free even?

You can use Neat Image for free as long as the image is less the 1000 px x 1000 px, perfect for DPC.
I usually apply NI after sizing the image down anyway (after applying USM when necessary).

I can't say for the other programs, but Neat Image does a very good job. If/when funds permit you may want to consider upgrading your camera. The noise difference between the 350D and 40D is amazing, to the point that the majority of my pictures don't need any noise reduction.

Oh I know. I have been eyeing some 30Ds and my wife told me I could get it if I sold my XT and found a way to make up the difference that doesn't involve using the our bank account. IE I need to find stuff to sell cuz we're in college and all that.
Yeah, I'm almost certain I'll get NeatImage in the future. Ive used it for several years for DPC uses, but I'm starting to get more jobs that could use it, meaning I need to start doing higher res. NeatImage.
