I use Sigma 24-135 F 2.8-4.5 and Canon 18-55 EFS lenses. So far I'm not very satisfied with both lenses sharpness and details.
Which wide lense do you use?
Which one is the best bang for the buck?
Is there any lense under 700$ with good 16X20 print quality? |

Kosta, the canon 17-40 f4L is pretty well regarded, is $689 @ B&H, and has a $40 canon rebate right now.
Alternaitives are the Sigma 12-24 or the Sigma 15-30. Setz just got the 12-24, you could pick his brain. The 15-30 is a bit faster, but of course significantly less wide.
If you REALLY want wide, sharper, and faster, there are a few good primes out there. I'm not that well-informed on those though, I just haven't done the research.

Kosta check out this link: //www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/lenses/canon-17-40.shtml
I have the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L fantastic fast lens. But the 17-40mm f/4.0 is a bargain for the price. |

I have the 17-40 and love it. I'd recommend it without hesitation.

Definitely grab the 17-40 f/4L if you can manage it. Tis a sweet, sweet lens for 700ish US dollars :)
It's one that almost makes me double think my purchase of the 16-35 f/2.8L.
In conclusion... buy it! lol :)
